Lauris Reiniks, born in Dobele, Latvia, is one of the most popular, successful and awarded pop music singers and songwriters in Latvia, having recorded 5 solo albums. One of them, Lidot Savadak, has certified Gold in Latvia. Many of Lauris’s songs have become hits in Latvia. Such as Es Neesmu Neprātīgs, Tev šodien vienalga, Tik Balti, Es Tev Apmulsis, as well as legendary Sirds Sadeg Neparasti that received all major music awards in Latvia in 2002 and was recognized a song of a year. His song Tell Me performed in a duet with a Eurovision Song Contest 2002 winner Marie N (Marija Naumova) has received a prestigious award of Latvian Copyrights Agency AKKA/LAA as the most played song on radio and television in 2003.
In 2003 along with Mārtiņš Freimanis and Yana Kay he created a trio. Called F.L.Y. it was created specially for Eurovision Song Contest Latvian selection. With the song Hello From Mars they won the National preliminaries and represented Latvia in ESC 2003.
Lauris Reiniks has successfully entered also into acting. In 2004/2005 he played Rolf in the famous musical The Sound Of Music, andin 2005 he played Olympus in a musical Autoplanet. Lauris has also done several National TV commercials and print ads. He has been the voice in a Coca-Cola commercial in Latvia.
In 2005 The British popmusic magazine Top Of The Pops awarded Lauris with a title of “Latvian National Megastar 2004”.
In 2005 Lauris represented Latvia in European Union Roadshow in Slovakia giving concerts in all major cities in Slovakia. One song, And You Came, a duet with Estonian singer Maarja - Maarja-Liis Ilus, became a hit both in Latvia and Estonia and reached radio stations in other countries.
Ever since 1998 Lauris Reiniks has also been famous for hosting several TV shows for Latvian Television LTV and other TV channels.
On April 8, 2007 live on TV3 Latvia (Viasat) Lauris Reiniks became the winner of the splendid and most popular TV show in Latvia Dancing with the Stars (Dejo ar Zvaigzni) along with his professional partner-many times champion Aleksandra Kurusova.
In May, 2007 Lauris Reiniks began working on a new motion picture for the "Kaupo" film studio, Dancis pa trim (A Dance for Three). He is playing Edvards, a Latvian soldier during the latter stages of World War II. The movie is scheduled for release in 2008. |
